VIDI

A POETIC LIVE VISUALIZER BASED ON SOUND AND COLOR PERCEPTION

Project VIDI founds its place as a graduation work of Kathi Rüll, which was created in multidisciplinary collaboration between art, design and computer science.

There are several kind of goals, which project aimed to achieve - to stretch the concept of purely visual impression of design to more “haptic”, to create a synergy between music and colour (phenomenon of synesthesia) and found the base for cooperation of disciplines and visions, rather than limit the work to individual.

As a part of scenographers team my task was to create different scenarios of use of the tool in one space without obvious contradiction. We as well agreed, that a perception experience of visitors should be as full-sensory as it possible in the frames of chosen space.

Installations without the tool would look rather to say plotless, but still not plain in its not obvious complexity. One is horizontal, another is vertical, one is soft, multilayered and scattered, another one is reflective, cold and sharp, but both of them inviting for interaction and very sensitive in their flexibility.

Once tool is in use, installation starts to live and immerse into the audio-visual experience.

To give the tool, installations and performances a proper moment, we organized a concert that took place on may
5th 2022 at 8 pm in the Big Studio of HfG Karlsruhe.
